Arabic-Style Sofa with Modern Lines — Downtown Dubai

This Downtown Dubai apartment needed seating that honoured the client’s Arabic heritage but fit a contemporary interior. The original sofa was a traditional low Arabic style with heavy ornamentation that clashed with the apartment’s minimal finishes.

We kept the low, wide seat profile — essential for Arabic seating — but removed the ornate carving and replaced it with clean lines. The new frame sits on slim brass legs, raising the sofa slightly for a more modern silhouette. The upholstery is a warm beige bouclé with a subtle texture.

The client wanted to host family in a traditional way but without the visual weight of a classic majlis. The result is a piece that works for both Arabic gatherings and everyday modern living.
