Majlis Sofa Dubai — Traditional Arabic Seating, Built Modern
A majlis is more than a sofa. It’s where guests are welcomed, family gathers, and the day’s conversations unfold. It needs to sit correctly for Arabic hospitality — low to the ground, continuous along the wall, comfortable for long gatherings — but it also needs to be comfortable by modern standards. Hard cushions and thin foam might have been acceptable a generation ago. They’re not today.
We build custom majlis sofas in Dubai that honour the traditional profile while adding modern comfort layers. Every piece is measured to your wall, built in our Al Quoz workshop, and delivered with white-glove setup.

Traditional vs Modern Majlis — We Build Both
Traditional floor majlis sits low, with continuous seat runs along the walls and firm mutakkah bolsters for back support. Guests sit on the floor level with legs tucked or extended. This is the classic layout for formal hospitality in villas.
Modern sofa-height majlis maintains the face-to-face layout but raises the seating to sofa height (typically 40–45cm). Easier to get up from, more supportive for extended sitting, and better suited to older guests or larger gatherings.
Hybrid majlis combines both — raised wall seating on two or three sides, with floor-level centre cushions for additional seating during peak use.
We build all three, sized to your exact wall run.
What’s Included in a Custom Majlis
- Frame built to your wall length — solid wood base, glued and secured. No softwood or chipboard.
- HR foam seating — 38–42 kg/m³ high-resilience foam with a soft fibre top layer for comfort without sacrificing support.
- Backrest bolsters (mutakkah) — firm filling, matching fabric, sized to your seating height.
- Corner units — custom-angled to fit your room’s corners. Not a bolted-on standard corner.
- Traditional detailing — tassel fringe, gold or brass trim, contrast piping, embroidered accents.
- Optional storage — hinged seat sections for storing extra cushions, blankets, or table settings.
Fabrics for Majlis Sofas
Your fabric choice determines how your majlis looks and how it survives daily use. We offer:
- Velvet — the classic choice. Rich, deep colour. Performance velvets resist crushing in high-use areas.
- Jacquard — woven geometric or arabesque patterns built into the fabric. More durable than velvet, ideal for family majlis.
- Brocade — formal, opulent, raised patterns. Popular for wedding and reception majlis.
- Performance fabrics — solution-dyed, stain-resistant, 30,000+ Martindale rub count. Best for daily-use family majlis.
- Linen-cotton blends — breathable, casual. Suited to open-air farm majlis and garden setups.
We bring sample books to your home so you can see each fabric against your existing décor and lighting.
Custom Wall Lengths and Corner Configurations
Every majlis is measured to your exact wall run. Common configurations:
- Single-wall run — one continuous length along one wall
- L-shaped run — two walls meeting at a custom corner
- U-shaped run — three walls, common in dedicated majlis rooms
- Window-recess seating — fitted around windows without blocking light
- Column-avoiding runs — seating wraps around structural columns without gaps
Bring us your room dimensions or a photo of the space. We’ll design the layout and quote accordingly.
